A.     Project Overview

The purpose of this Information Systems Technology (IST) Articulation Program is to serve two-year information technology graduates of Daytona Beach (www.itecfl.com), Seminole, and Valencia Community Colleges and graduates of St. Petersburg Junior College attending College University Center through the collaboration of a university, community colleges, and industry. 

      Specific objectives of this proposal include:

·        Develop all Information Systems Technology courses for delivery at a distance and begin offering them 2001-2002 academic year to the partners.

·        Ensure that support services for distance learning are in place.

·        Market Information Systems Technology to community colleges and industries within Florida.

Identify and contact industries in the community college service areas to enlist support in informing potential students.

Identify companies that hire graduates from each community college and gain feedback on industry educational requirements.

Specialize courses to address specific industry needs.

Contact local Chamber of Commerce groups and economic development agencies for industry prospects for using ISTAP

Creation of a wider awareness of the program and benefits.

Produce and present articles, conference presentations and workshop sessions to disseminate ISTAP curriculum, materials,  activities, and infrastructure.

Greater awareness of exemplary programs and practices leading to adoption by other institutions.

Provide assistance in transporting and implementing the ISTAP program to other institutions and industries within Florida and nationally.

Year 2 and on

Increased number of Associate’s graduates move into bachelor’s program.

            The University of Central Florida will serve as the lead institution in this project.  The general organizational structure is a collaborative venture with UCF, DBCC, SCC, and SPJC.  VCC will be a minor partner in this project.  The PI, co-PI’s, administrative coordinator, and the evaluator will serve on the management team with meetings on a monthly basis.    The project activity schedule spans a two-year period,  beginning August 1, 2001.
